MORRISTOWN AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY

    Morristown American Legion Auxiliary met on Monday, March 15, 2010 at 8:00 P.M. in the Morristown Legion. Vice President Darlene Kratt presided. Opening procedures were held including prayer led by Betty Sammon and the “Draping of the Charter” for Auxiliary members Ruth Johnson and Ernestine Meschke. Nine members answered roll call. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The Treasurer’s report was given. A thank you note was read from the Ernestine Meschke family and Ruth Johnson family. 

    Committee reports were given - Americanism - selection of Legionville and Girl State delegates. A motion was passed to select Marissa Ahlman daughter of Steve and Sandi Ahlman and Meghan Krause daughter of Arlen and Suzanne Krause both of Cannon Valley Lutheran High School as delegates to Girls State June 13-19th at Bethel University in Arden Hills. A motion was passed to have Katilyn Haefemeyer daughter of Steve and Jenny Haefemeyer and Charlie Kuball daughter of Curtis and Mary Kuball of WEM Middle School as our delegates to Legionville in June. Alternates are Haley and Hannah Hennes daughters of Luann Hennes. (Boys attended as delegates for the Legion are Maclean Braun son of Gary and Jenny Braun and Bradley Edel son of Scott and Rhonda Edel with Hose Perez as alternate.) 

    Finance - We were asked to serve a meal for the 50th Class Reunion of Class of 1960 of Morristown High School on July 17, 2010. A motion was passed to serve the meal. 

    Community Service - Served the Legion Birthday Party which was attended by about 45. Decorations were put out. Foreign Exchange student Andrus Rodas of Paraguay gave a very interesting talk of his country and his experiences here. He is staying with the Rob Schwichtenberg family. 

    Legislation/Vets and Rehab - Darlene Kratt reported on issues that are being brought forward for the veterans and a chance of getting a job after returning from service. 
     

  • The Auxiliary will sponsor a “Pillow Cleaning” at the Legion on April 9 from 7:00 A.M. - Noon. Darlene Spitzack and Betty Timm will be in charge. 
  • Darlene Kratt asked for a replacement on the Memorial Committee. Lenora Kuball will replace her to meet with the Legion. 

    A motion was passed to not extend another year for president succession. Nominating committee appointed are Carol Quast and Shirley Nagel. 

    The Auxiliary will have a “Burger Basket Night” on the second Saturday in April.
