The Morristown Sesquicentennial Committee would like to thank everyone who participated in our yearlong celebration events.

    December 17, 2005 
     
    The City of Morristown’s Grand Finale.  A fun filled afternoon 
    and evening Saturday, December 17th beginning at 2:00 p.m. 
    at the Morristown Community Center.   Registration for the Morristown Commercial Club drawing began at 1:00 p.m. 
    At 2:00 p.m., Mayor Steve Felix welcomed everyone to this 
    final Sesquicentennial event. 
    Councilmen Nordmeier was the Master of Ceremonies. 
    MISS MORRISTOWN 2005 & 
    Princess helped Mr. Nordmeier 
    with the Commercial Club drawing. 
    Many, many, many door prizes where given through out the day.

    Jim and Krisna Goodwin from Morristown, Tennessee.  Morristown, Tennessee also celebrated their Sesquicentennial this year and Carl and Juanita Krueger traveled to Tennessee to represent the City of Morristown.

    Beards will be judged on the best groomed, fullest, oddest, blackest, longest whitest and reddest.  Also a prize will be given for the best goatee, the best mustache and the youngest person with a beard.

    A historic fashion show.  Clothing from “The Frontier to the Future” Where modeled.  We have a lot of interesting clothing that was worn by Morristown area people from 1855 – 2005. 
    .

    A time capsule full of interesting objects – a 2005 Morristown calendar, cup and saucer, historic mill picture, photos, Christmas bulbs and much more was buried. 
    There were drawings throughout the afternoon for many gifts from local Morristown merchants.  Santa will arrive and pictures will be taken with Santa. 
    A 15 Minute gigantic fireworks at sundown followed by the dance featuring 
    the Cannon River Band.  Sponsored by the Morristown Fire Department. 
    The photo contest result will be announced and a presentation will be made to the Bloomer family whose farm just south of Morristown was 150 years old this year. 
    Throughout the day sleigh rides were available, Saturday, December 17th was filled with fun and good memories. 
    We sincerly hope the next generations will celebrate Morristown's 200th Birthday with the same enthusiasm and sense of history we in 2005 did!
